Scotswood Road Newcastle

The Property team bid for the site in August 2014 and completed the purchase in January 2015. The existing office building and ancillary warehouse is let to Verizon UK Ltd with vacant possession anticipated in July 2028.

The site of the new store is located approximately 1km to the south west of Newcastle city centre, on the southern side of Scotswood Road. The current building ‘ Interlink House’ was completed in 1988 and by 1993 it was occupied by Northumbria Ambulance Service as their headquarters. The open land to the west of the site has overspill car parking for a vehicle accident repair centre with Interlink House used by Verizon a telecommunications and I.T company. The buildings in the vicinity are predominantly commercial units operating as car showrooms, plumbing and trade counter units.

The new store proposal is for a self storage facility with 60,000net  sq ft MLA on ground plus three floors of storage.

The redevelopment proposals were submitted to the local planning authority in November 2020 and approved on 21st October 2021. We are targeting a BREEAM accreditation of Very Good.

Demolition and site clearance works are due to start once the premises have been vacated by the tenant.
