Farnham Road Slough
The Property team approached Segro in December 2020 to discuss an opportunity to redevelop the Sainsburys superstore at the junction of Montrose Avenue and Farnham Road on the Slough Trading Estate. The superstore was built in 1989 and was first operated by Safeway until 2005 before Sainsbury’s rebadged the store.
The site occupies a prominent corner plot of approximately 1.5 acres and is located approximately 0.5 mile from the existing Slough store, which opened in 2000.
Big Yellow completed the purchase of the freehold in July 2022. The new store proposal is for a self storage facility (with 2,400 sq ft flexi offices) in total approximately 61,000 sq ft MLA.
The redevelopment proposals were submitted to the local planning authority on 1st June 2022 within the framework of a Simplified Planning Zone. Consent for the new store was granted on 1st July 2022. We are targeting a Breeam accreditation of Very Good.
Demolition and site clearance works have started, with completion expected in by January 2023.
