Who am I?
Tina
Store Manager
Started March 2020
What has been your career path to date?
After leaving school I became a hairdresser. When I had my first child, I took a break from my career and dedicated my time to raising my family. I joined Armadillo West Molesey as a Sales Advisor and progressed to Assitant Manager whilst working in a number of stores. I am now back in West Molesey where I am the Store Manager.
What has been your greatest career achievement to date?
My promotion to Store Manager.
How have you been supported in progressing your career?
There has always been help for me when I have asked. The people and the culture in Big Yellow mean that everyone wants to help you succeed. This can be anything from a sit down with a cup of tea and chat about how to achieve my goals, encouragement to go for what you want and if you are unsure and doubt yourself provide coaching and support.
What is it that makes Big Yellow/Armadillo a great place to work?
It is a big company with a family feel. The teams in store are small, so the people you work with become family. The best thing about Big Yellow is the fact that they choose personalities when employing people its not just what is on your CV’s. It was those words that made me apply for a job after being out of work for so long after having my children.
How do you manage a positive work life/balance?
Not having to take any work home with me makes my balance very positive. I get to go home in the evenings and concentrate on being a mum and a partner. I am not disturbed on my days off or my holidays.
How are you supported in achieving a good work/life balance?
I am a believer that kindness goes a long way. If one of my team needs anything, a shift swap at short notice, a day off changed or anything like that I will always be the first to change where I can. The favour is always returned when needed.
