What has been your career path to date?
After a 5 year stint in the Health and Fitness Industry, I was presented with an opportunity to transfer into the self-storage sector with Big Yellow. I joined the business in 2019 as an Assistant Manager and after developing my skill set, progressed into Store Management in 2022 and lead a new team in opening the latest Big Yellow site in the portfolio, Kingston North.
What has been your greatest career achievement to date?
Successfully progressing into Store Management after three years of evolving and developing my skillset as an Assistant Store Manager.
What’s most important to you in your career and why?
The most important factors for me are being valued, recognition of performance and continued development. All of which I continue to experience with Big Yellow!
Tell us what benefits you value the most and why?
I currently take part in Share Saving with Big Yellow which allows me to invest in the company I work for. This is an incredibly valuable benefit to me as it allows me to save financially and be rewarded for the commercial success of the business.
What is it that makes Big Yellow/Armadillo a great place to work?
I would say the biggest motivator for me is being valued within the business. In many retail industries it’s common to feel like just a number, or a small fish in a big pond. In Big Yellow, I feel valued, visible and that my contributions to the business are recognised.
How are you supported in achieving a good work/life balance?
We are encouraged to invest time in ourselves outside of the workplace. Big Yellow offers manageable working hours, holiday allowance, benefit schemes and more, to support us with maintaining a good work/life balance.
