What is the recruitment process?
Having screened your application, if you fit our selection criteria you will be invited to complete an on-line video interview as the first stage of our recruitment process.
Upon successful completion of this video, you will be invited to attend a face to face interview, where you will be required to sit a numeracy/literacy test.
For all positions, the final stage of the recruitment process will be a further interview, alongside an on the job experience at one of our stores to make absolutely certain that you understand our business and the job is right for you.
We will ensure that you are notified of the outcome of all interviews as soon as possible.
What is the structure of our stores?
Stores operate in small teams of three or four members of staff. Each store is run by a Store Manager, who is supported by a Deputy / Assistant Manager and Sales Advisors. Between seven to thirteen stores form an area which is overseen by an Area Manager.
What are the opening hours?
Stores are open from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on Saturday and 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on Sunday. Full time staff work a rota of five days out of seven and are contracted to work 40 hours a week.
Head Office hours are from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday and full time staff are contracted to work 37.5 hours a week.
Part time positions are also available in both Head Office and our stores.
Will I have to work weekends?
As it is our busiest time, you will be required to work weekends on a rota basis in stores.
Some Head Office positions, such as Customer Support, will require Saturday & Sunday working on a rota basis.
Will I have to relocate?
Not necessarily. It is preferable that store staff live locally to their base store, but we do ask them to be flexible if cover is needed in another store. Head Office staff are based in Bagshot, Surrey.
What are the promotional prospects at Big Yellow?

We have spent considerable time developing and investing in a benefits package that reflects how we value our staff. For more information go to Your Benefits.
