Charities

From February 2007, Big Yellow began fund raising and providing free storage for recognised charities, as chosen by our employees and also for other charities.  To date we have raised £127,688 for our recognised charities and £147,811 for other charities.

From the same date, we have also donated a total of 96,423 sq ft of storage space worth £3,486,380 to both recognised and other charities.

Abigail's Footsteps

Abigail’s Footsteps was launched in 2010 in memory of Abigail Rose-Ann Ward. The charity aims to improve the bereavement training that midwives and care staff receive and also to improve the quality of supportive information for families who suffer from a still birth.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust actively supports excellence in research and clinical care, as well as providing practical support and advice to people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families. The charity funds high quality research to understand Cystic Fibrosis better and to develop new and improved treatments.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home aims never to turn away a dog or cat in need of help. The charity reunites lost dogs and cats with their owners or cares for them until new homes can be found, giving them shelter and the highest standards of veterinary care.

The British Heart Foundation is the UK’s number one heart charity, whose mission is to win the fight against cardiovascular disease and have a world where people do not die prematurely or suffer from cardiovascular disease. The charity works to achieve this through promoting cardiovascular health and the prevention of cardiovascular disease, leading the fight to improve the UK’s rates of survival and making sure that patients and their families receive the best possible support and information.

Butterwick Hospice Care serves the communities of Teesside, County Durham, North Yorkshire and Wearside. The charity aims to improve the quality of life for those who have a life limiting illness, as well as their families and helps them relate positively to every challenges they may encounter during their illness.

Millie's Trust was created by the parents of Millie Thompson who tragically passed away in a choking incident in October 2012. The NSPCC is inspired by a belief that it can make a difference for all children. To help end cruelty to children in the UK, the charity aims to create and deliver the services that are most effective at protecting children. It provides advice and support for adults and professionals worried about a child, it works with organisations to ensure they effectively protect children and challenges those who do not, and it campaigns for changes to legislation, policy and practice in order to keep children safe.

Parcels4Troops

Parcels4Troops was set up in 1990 by a Prison Officer and ex Royal Corps of Transport who sent parcels to his former army colleagues during the Gulf War. The scheme continued to help a couple of his work colleagues who were in the Territorial Army and deployed to Iraq on active service. The parcels were extremely well received, word spread and many more parcels were sent out to the units involved. From 2008, Parcels4troops has supported troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and since December 2007 it has sent almost 15,000 individual named parcels to both operations.

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of only four dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK and provides integrated healthcare for children and young people, including community and mental health care, as well as acute and specialist services. The Trust provides a full range of services for residents of Sheffield and South Yorkshire, as well as specialised services for patients from further afield.
